Autoglass Helps Deliver a Warmer Christmas at SMART Prebend Centre
Staff from Autoglass® HQ in Bedford (one of the town’s largest employers) came into the SMART Prebend Centre to help with the Christmas donations received and enable regular staff at the centre to devote more time to those accessing services 365 days a year.
Chantal Thomas, a lawyer at Autoglass® (and also SMART CJS Trustee) was one of those volunteers who gave of their time (pictured, left) along with colleague, Jane Roberts.
Chantal said: “I am happy to support SMART Prebend Centre, particularly at this busy time of year. We really enjoyed sorting through the clothes that have been kindly donated and making sure they are graded and sized ready for use. It’s great to think that these will help the homeless and rough sleepers feel warmer this Christmas and keep out the worst of the Winter weather.”
About the SMART Prebend Centre
The day centre in Bedford is open every day of the year, supporting those who sleep rough, are vulnerably housed and often face issues around social isolation and exclusion. It is funded entirely on charitable donations and grants and the support of the local community. It costs approximately £250,000 per year to keep the project open. We generate all funds for the centre through fundraising activities. Our volunteers and fundraisers are a vital part of keeping the service going.
