Job role: Bedford Services Night Worker
Hours: Various hours per week available. Shifts are waking nights.
Salary: £9.50per hour Fixed term until: 31st March 2019 (extension possible)
Location: Somewhere Safe to Stay Hub, Bedford
Annual leave: 27 days per annum + bank holidays
About SMART in Bedford
In Bedford we operate several rough sleeper and homelessness services, including the SMART Prebend Centre, the SMART night bed service, the Bedford Somewhere Safe to Stay Hub and the Initiatives Outreach service. These services are all interlinked to provide seamless support for our service users.
The SMART Prebend Centre provides a safe space for service users, who are either rough sleeping, vulnerably housed or at risk of social isolation; to get something to eat, showered, be warm and receive support until lunch time every day.
The SMART night bed service is a temporary short term night shelter space available for those sleeping rough in the county. Access to the beds is via the rough sleeper outreach services in Bedford.
The Somewhere Safe to Stay Hub, is an assessment unit run in conjunction with Bedford Borough Council to ensure all those who are presenting as homeless are presented with an option to prevent them sleeping rough. It provides a safe an comfortable environment for those who are presenting as homeless to receive both statutory and voluntary sector support.
The SMART Initiatives Outreach team, work with the service users of all of the above services to ensure support, treatment and care is provided to relieve rough sleeping in the first instance and prevent further rough sleeping thereafter, providing care coordination.
Main Purpose of the Job
- Ensure the provision of high quality treatment services through:
- Ensure the dignity and safety of those accessing SMART’s Bedford services
- Establishing strong working relationships with Service Users across our Bedford services
Maintain high professional standards, and represent SMART at all times
