News Update Issue 14 December 2022

A message from our CEO, Anita McCallum

I write to share with you a little of the fantastic work our teams have been doing recently. Not only has my own team been extremely busy working on our Cold Relief in Bedford appeal, but our team of incredible outreach workers along with support workers & case workers have been working hard to ensure that people in the community have access to warm shelter, food, hot showers, clothing and accommodation.

It’s really starting to feel like winter, isn’t it? It’s bitter outside and the temperature has dropped to below freezing. Many of us are digging through our wardrobes getting out our warmest coats, hats, scarves and gloves. We find ourselves racing to get home to get into the warm and keep the cold, out. For some people, this isn’t an option. There are hundreds of extremely vulnerable people in our community who do not have their own home, a suitable home or can’t afford to heat their home, and this number is rapidly increasing.

This is a crucial time for SMART. We are doing our best to provide warmth, safety and compassion to people in the Bedford and Milton Keynes Communities. Please, consider making a donation to our CRIB appeal to ensure that we can keep running our much needed Prebend Centre services. Please donate:
