Partnerships for the future

We are delighted to announce an agreement between Alcohol Services for the Community and SMART CJS for the two organisations to work closely together over the next six months. In support of this arrangement trustees from each organisation will sit on each other’s board of trustees.

Alcohol services for the community (asc) is an independent charity whose aim is to promote a healthier lifestyle without reliance on alcohol or other drugs. Established in 1979 providing skilled and experienced staff working in the areas of prevention and treatment throughout Bedfordshire and Luton.

The Boards are very confident that we are a good match and concur that this agreement is a positive way forward. Both organisations want to ensure that we are building the capability and capacity to allow the maximum number of people to benefit from the excellent services we provide.

We will retain our separate identities and carry on as usual with our existing business whilst we explore the benefits of working in partnership. This is a very exciting opportunity that will help both organisations to develop and prosper.

CELEBRATING 11 YEARS OF HOWARD HOUSE – PLEASE JOIN US!
So far, we have welcomed around 14 people a day into the centre for a chat, a warm drink, and a hot takeaway meal. We have spoken to several people who are struggling to afford food because of the rise of living costs and the reduction of Universal Credit. People without a home have been able to talk about their situation, get food, collect their post (the building is a registered address for many) and use the phone to make essential calls.
