SMART Prebend Centre homeless appeal – one week left and just £3k to go!

The SMART Prebend Centre Cold Relief In Bedford (CRIB) appeal is in its final week and is tantalisingly close to hitting the campaign target of £60,000.

The annual appeal has received a record number of donations, totalling £57,000, which has helped the homeless day centre to stay open during the harsh winter months. Funds raised from CRIB contribute towards the running costs of the service, so rough sleepers and the homeless have a safe space to eat, shower and rest.

Lisa Harrison, SMART CJS Area Manager Homelessness and Fundraised Services explains “We are once again amazed by the support we have received from the Bedford community. It costs over £250,000 each year to keep the centre open and we are reliant on the good will of our community to achieve this.

“During this appeal we have seen some incredible acts of kindness, with local people, businesses and groups all coming together to help us provide shelter and direction to those who have often lost hope.

We have just £3k to go until we meet our fundraising goal and I’d like to thank everyone who has supported the campaign – you are incredible! With just one week until CRIB ends, we need one last push to reach target; the countdown is on! Please consider donating, so we can continue to support Bedford’s homeless towards a better life.”

In 2019 the centre encountered unexpected and urgent repairs costing more than £90,000 – we need your help more than ever.

YOU CAN STILL HELP!

Please make a donation to CRIB  so the SMART Prebend Centre team can continue to provide support, compassion and hope to Bedford’s homeless this winter.
