Somewhere Safe to Stay!
We are soon to open the “Somewhere Safe to Stay” hubs in Bedford and Milton Keynes and our dedicated teams and contractors have been working hard to transform the buildings in Harpur Street in Bedford and Drayton Road in Milton Keynes.
Rough sleepers accessing the hubs will receive a same day assessment and “Somewhere Safe to Stay” for between 3-7 days, during which time they will be provided with a safe place to sleep and concentrated support from SMART workers alongside dedicated statutory housing support from Navigator’s within the Council teams. The aim of both hubs is to find the appropriate housing solution for each individual service user by the end of their stay.

“Both hubs will offer rough sleepers rapid and intensive support. What’s unique about these projects is they will have multiple agencies under one roof, where statutory and third sector support work hand in hand.”
The hubs have been funded by the MHCLG (Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government) for 12 months as part of the Rapid Rehousing Pathways scheme.

“This is an amazing opportunity, but the journey doesn’t end after 7 days. Once users of the service move on, our Rough Sleeper Case Workers will provide ongoing contact and support to give every person the best chance to maintain and build on a better way of living. We have a fantastic opportunity to make a big impact.”
