Superhero Scavenger Hunt Raises Over £5,000!!!
On Sunday 9th June the SMART Prebend Centre held their first annual family scavenger hunt to raise awareness and funds for the homeless day centre.
The event took place at Russell Park and was opened by Bedford Borough Councillor and Deputy Speaker, Jane Walker, who also presented prizes to the winners of the superhero competition. Over 200 children took part in the hunt, while more than 400 adults joined in and visited the various stalls and fair games in the park to raise a total of £5400.

A happy mum said “this was the perfect activity for us, sunshine, a little exercise and all for £2. We hope very much that you do this again!”
SMART’s Area Manager, Lisa Harrison said “We spoke to hundreds of Bedford residents during the day, some of whom were unaware of our project, so it was a fantastic opportunity to talk about what we do and why it’s important. We’ve had lots of interest from Bedford locals who are keen to volunteer and help us with fundraising in the future. I am delighted to have received positive feedback from those who attended and we are already planning for next year!”
SMART’s CEO, Anita McCallum said “We are very grateful to all those who made the event a success. I would like to offer sincere thanks to Deputy Speaker, Jane Walker and to all of the staff and volunteers for their dedication on the day. My heartfelt thanks go everyone in Bedford for really getting behind the hunt, to Sustrans for providing the main raffle prize and to those who made donations including Sue Rumfitt Associates, Booker and M&DH Insurance Services Ltd.
