Tesco shoppers support SMART Prebend Centre

Big thanks to Tesco (Riverdale Drive) and all the shoppers who stopped to chat and donate to the SMART Prebend Centre on Wednesday 6th December.

Staff, volunteers and service users from SMART manned a stall and collected food donations from Tesco customers. Generous shoppers donated over £500’s worth of food and toiletry items, which will help with meals during winter and support the giving of practical gifts during Christmas time.

Lisa Harrison, SMART’s Area Manager said  “The people of Bedford continue to amaze me with their generosity. The team met and talked to over 100 shoppers who donated yesterday afternoon. Every bit of what they collected, will go directly to those who are homeless or vulnerable and inadequately housed, over the winter months. A big thank you to Tesco Riverfield Drive and its shoppers.”

The SMART Prebend Centre is for people who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless in Bedford. The project provides assistance to meet people’s basic needs such as food, showers, clothing, bedding and toiletries, along with other emergency items, like tents and sleeping bags for people who are sleeping rough. The SMART team offer advice and support to help those who use the centre, helping them to learn new skills, build their confidence and move forward towards safe accommodation and independence.

Please donate to the Christmas Relief In Bedford (CRIB) appeal and support vulnerable homeless people this Christmas. We thank you very much for your support!
