Update – Gabriela fund raising Marathon for SMART!

gabi-won

Well done to Gabriela, who works for SMART JKP, our alcohol support service in Luton. Gabriela completed Luton Love’s half marathon and raised £130 for SMART!

“I have been running since beginning of January 2016, I have made new year’s resolution to get fitter and so here I am. For the actual half marathon, I have trained about 8 week’s total. I used to do a long run on Thursdays and short runs up to 3 times a week on top of that,  I was also doing other cardio like swimming and Hiit training.”

“I have started my half marathon the night before at the dinner table where I fuelled up my body with protein and mainly low release carbs and went to bed early. Got up few hours before the start and again fuelled up my body with good energy. The race started at 9am. Unfortunately, I started feeling unwell with cold a week before the marathon, so on the day I did not feel well at all. I had blocked nose and couldn’t breathe properly, so I have not enjoyed the run as much as I thought. I did however complete the 13.1 miles in 2hours and 17 minutes. I broke my personal record 3 times (fastest 15k, fastest 10miles and fastest 20k). Overall I have felt very proud for completing this challenge and I’m already planning new challenges for 2017. If anyone wants to join me for the next half marathon challenge, please don’t hesitate.”

It’s not too late to donate

Thanks Gabriela from everyone at SMART!
